The WVDNR National Hunting & Fishing Days at the Adventure On! Freedom Festival
National Hunting & Fishing Days featuring the WVDNR Youth Challenge!
This event, which has been hosted by the WVDNR for decades, is dedicated to celebrating the heritage of hunting, fishing, and conservation in West Virginia. Staff from the WVDNR Wildlife Resources and Law Enforcement sections will be available throughout the weekend to answer any questions visitors may have. Additionally, the Outdoor Youth Challenge will be available to anyone 18 and younger.
Kids can participate in a variety of outdoor activities throughout the weekend and be entered into a drawing for prizes! And don’t forget to stop by the Big Buck and Trophy Fish display to view some of the best trophy mounts in the state.
Young people are exposed to a multitude of activities and displays with real hands-on learning and instructional opportunities that will encourage them to gain important knowledge and experience about wildlife, hunting, fishing, firearms safety and outdoor recreation. Young folks can choose only to participate or they can compete. The Outdoor Youth Challenge is perhaps the most important event at National Hunting and Fishing Days because, for some youngsters, this may be the only opportunity they will have to be exposed to these fun and exciting outdoor activities.

The OYC is an incredibly important event at National Hunting and Fishing Days because, for some children, this may be the only opportunity they will have to be exposed to these fun and exciting outdoor activities. With the ongoing national efforts towards the recruitment, retention, and reactivation (R3), the OYC has become a pivotal component toward the future of conservation in
